A tuition-free, online public school option for grades K-12

Wisconsin Virtual Academy (WIVA), authorized by the McFarland School District, is a full-time, tuition-free, online public school option for students in grades K-12 living anywhere in the state of Wisconsin. We provide an individualized, high-quality education.

Our goal is to deliver a personalized, high-quality education so that each child may reach his or her full potential through: Read more…

Individualized Learning and Personal Attention: Every child receives an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) and one-to-one attention. You will experience a close learning partnership between you, your child, and Wisconsin-licensed teachers. We provide a mastery-based approach to learning in grades K–8, and multiple course levels and support in grades 9–12.

Exceptional, Extensive Curriculum: Our school offers more course offerings than most brick-and-mortar schools. Not only more choices, such as dozens of career-building electives, but also subjects that are not offered in many schools, including AP, art, music, and world languages. There are opportunities for potential early graduation and/or earning college credits. We also offer opportunities for Advanced Learners and allow students to learn at their own level.

A Strong Community and Partnership: Wisconsin Virtual Academy offers an active, supportive school community with a wide range of extracurricular clubs and activities. Face-to-face activities include a talent show, field trips to exciting locations like museums, parks, and zoos. WIVA even hosts an end-of-year Jamboree where families and staff come together to celebrate all of the past years accomplishments. Plus, teens can enjoy prom, and even a graduation ceremony.

And we only succeed if your child succeeds. The result is exceptionally high satisfaction ratings from the parents and students who attend our school. In fact, 91% of WIVA parents say they’d recommend the K12 curriculum to a friend or family member and 90% of students say they’ve benefitted academically from the K12 curriculum. Another measure of success is that our graduates have gone on to attend such prestigious colleges as University of Wisconsin, Boston University, Marian University, and Ripon College. One thing is certain, our graduates tell us they feel better prepared than most to take on life. They have learned to think critically for themselves; learned to take on responsibility; and have been nurtured, supported, and challenged.

The Wisconsin Open Enrollment Window for the upcoming 2015–2016 school year closes April 30, 2015. If you’re interested in enrolling in our school, you must submit an Open Enrollment application during this window. However, know that submitting an Open Enrollment application doesn’t obligate you to enroll in our program, but it does ensure you have the option of doing so for the upcoming school year should you choose to.
